About the Event

Violinists Jake Shulman-Ment (NYC) and Abigale Reisman (Gloucester, MA) are joined in this concert by Chicago legend and multi-instrumentalist Kurt Bjorling, of the pioneering group Brave Old World. Each is among the most highly regarded klezmer performers of their generation. The three share deep backgrounds in klezmer and Yiddish musical idioms, exploratory improvisation, and work in reviving previously unknown folk repertoire. This evening’s concert will include dance tunes, meditative listening music, original compositions, and new settings of Yiddish poetry.
