About the Event
Join award winning professional storyteller, Susan Stone, as she shares stories from many sources; Jewish folktales, Midrash, Chasidic tales, as well as her life, all given interesting and lively interpretations, lifted off the page with insight and skill, and put back into true oral tradition. Funny, poignant, enlightening….Susan's personal narratives weave throughout the program. When Susan tells tales she opens her heart and, in turn, will open yours.
National Jewish Book Award winner, renowned folklorist Professor Howard Schwartz has said…. "In her hands the tales, no matter how ancient, come hauntingly alive where every tale can be heard as if for the first time".
SUSAN STONE, storyteller/teaching artist, has performed and taught all over the country, and in Warsaw, Lodz, and Lublin Poland; in schools, synagogues, festivals, universities, and museums. Her recordings of Jewish children's stories earned Parents' Choice Gold and Storytelling World Awards. Former adjunct faculty at National-Louis University, Susan taught improv/story theatre at Piven Theatre Workshop, and performed/toured with interfaith women storytellers. She is also a proud docent at Illinois Holocaust Museum. She loves practicing Yiddish in her stories.
